🌿It was Nabay.

Yesterday morning, I walked into the garage to leave for the gym, hit the garage door button, and immediately heard… CRACK!

I knew it before I even looked up. The door wasn't just stuck. It was BROKEN. No pulling the emergency cord. No manually lifting it. No quick fix.

The pulley had stopped dead in its track, and the garage door was barely open. And there sat my car, trapped inside, going absolutely nowhere.

After a few good screams (and several curse words!), I started calling the garage door company. Of course, they weren't open yet. So I left a message. And another.

Eventually, they called back and said they could get someone out at the very end of the day. Best they could do.

So I waited. And waited. And just became more and more annoyed that my whole day was thrown out of whack.

I know...in the grand scheme of life, this was no big deal. Nobody was hurt. Nothing was life-threatening. But it still got the best of me.

Until 4:26pm.

I looked out my window and saw that old beat up Ellis Garage Door van rolling up my driveway.

It was Nabay.

He had been to my house before...which, honestly, is probably a sign that I should just get an entirely new garage door!

He's in his 50s, from New Guinea, has been working for Ellis Garage Door for 20+ years, and is a gem of a human being.

With the biggest smile and his wonderfully thick accent, he stepped out of his van and said:

“Ahhhh, there she is... my favorite customer!”

And just like that...I laughed. We chatted while he worked, got caught up on life since he had been here last, and before I knew it my annoyance disappeared and my bad mood...lifted.

Nabay not only fixed my garage door. He fixed my attitude.

Thank you, Nabay, for reminding me that sometimes it only takes one kind person, one smile, or one unexpected human connection to completely change the direction of your day.

My garage door may still be questionable. But my attitude? Totally fixed.

Happy Wednesday! 🌿
