Why I Created Her Path
Hi! I’m Lisa Burns, Founder & President of Her Path, LLC.

I’m so excited to welcome you here! My mission is simple: I want to empower you to make personal finance a priority in your life.
As a Financial Wellness Advocate, I believe in the power of education because it puts us in control of our finances and allows us to make informed financial decisions for ourselves and our loved ones.

My own journey to financial wellness wasn’t a smooth one.
As a young adult, I went through a very difficult divorce that left me struggling as a single mom. With very little financial knowledge and a lot of anxiety, I found myself barely getting by. I was embarrassed and ashamed of the financial position I was in.
It was one of toughest times in my life and it almost broke me. But I made a promise to myself then and there that I would never find myself in that position again.

So, I made the decision to take control of my future by starting my own marketing and graphic design business, and taking life one day at a time. With hard work, faith, and perseverance, I rebuilt my confidence and discovered the strength to move forward.​

Fast forward many decades to August 2020, when I had my “Aha!” moment.
​
I realized that by combining my personal journey and professional experience with my husband Jim’s 30+ years as a financial advisor, we'd have the opportunity to make a real difference in helping people prioritize their personal finances and plan for the future.
This led me to partnering with him in his financial advisor practice, helping individuals, families, and business owners reach their immediate and long-term goals.
It soon became clear to me that there was a much-needed space where women could get guidance and support - with no judgement and at their own pace - to start their financial journey. And so in November 2024 I founded Her Path, LLC with the mission to empower women to make personal finance a priority and take the steps needed to start.​​

​​​At Her Path, we offer educational opportunities, guidance and support, and connections with seasoned financial professionals to help you prioritize financial wellness. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to feel empowered and confident about creating a secure financial future.

Before entering the world of financial wellness, I spent over 25 years in communications, marketing, and business development with companies such as Microsoft, Disclosure Inc., Takeout Taxi, and St. Thomas Church. And I ran my own marketing and graphic design firm, White Designs, Inc. I’m a 1991 graduate of the University of Lynchburg with a degree in Art/Graphic Design.

In August 2023 I received my Life, Accident and Health Insurance License. And in December 2023 I became an Independent Licensed Insurance Broker.

​As a business owner, mother, and woman in her mid-50s, I’ve faced my share of uncertainties and have learned firsthand the importance of planning. My journey has taught me valuable lessons, and now I want to inspire you to take control of your financial future, no matter your age or stage of life you’re in.
