🌿I used to be such a people pleaser

Growing up, I was such a people pleaser. I needed everyone to like me.
If someone didn’t, I would twist myself into whatever shape was needed to win them over. Friends, boyfriends, bosses — I made myself small to keep the peace.
And I believed that was normal.
That pattern followed me into my first marriage. I changed my hair. My clothes. My opinions. My personality.
I kept reshaping myself, thinking that if I could just get it “right,” he would finally be happy.
But he wasn’t unhappy because of me. He was unhappy because of himself. And no amount of shrinking myself was ever going to fix that.
One day, something shifted. I looked at my daughter — and at the woman I had become — and thought: No more.
I drew my line. I started being myself again.
And guess what? The world didn’t fall apart. It opened.
Here’s the deeper truth I learned:
When we contort ourselves to keep others comfortable, we lose our voice — and our confidence to make decisions for ourselves. Including our financial decisions.
Finding my voice again didn’t just change my relationships — it changed my sense of self.
I stopped trying to prove my worth.
I stopped dimming my light to keep the peace.
I started making choices that reflected my values, not someone else’s expectations.
And that has ultimately led me to the work I do today — helping women remember who they are, so they can build a life and financial foundation that supports who they’re becoming.
If any part of this feels familiar — in a relationship, a family dynamic, a friendship, a workplace — pause and ask yourself:
Am I dimming my light to keep someone else comfortable?
If you’re feeling the pull to dive a little deeper into what may be coming up for you, hit reply and let me know if you'd like to chat.
Nothing to prepare, nothing to prove. Just a supportive call and an opportunity to walk this path together. 💚
Happy Wednesday! 🌿

🌺 For many women, talking about money isn’t just about numbers — it’s about identity, history, relationships, safety, and self-worth. And sometimes the first step isn’t “making a plan.”
Sometimes the first step is simply having space to think out loud — slowly, gently, at your own pace.
