🌿Imposter syndrome almost stopped me

Five years ago this week I was 52 years old and took a leap of faith that felt equal parts bold and terrifying—I joined my husband Jim in building his financial advisory practice.
He had nearly 30 years in the industry. And me? Well, I had...none.
No finance background, no credentials—and a voice in my head whispering, "Who do you think you are?”
Imposter syndrome hit hard. Really hard.
But then I began reflecting on my real-life experience.
As a young adult I had weathered through a painful divorce that left me a single mom, emotionally and financially broken.
But I took control of my life—started my own marketing and graphic design business—and rebuilt my confidence and discovered the strength to move forward, one day at a time.
Eventually, I met Jim, remarried, blended a family of four amazing kids, and built a 25-year marketing and communications career.
That’s when I realized—this business isn’t just about money.
It’s about people. It’s about trust, connection, and helping others navigate life. And that I did understand.
What I once thought disqualified me became my greatest asset.
By being open about my own missteps and lessons, I’ve been able to connect with people in a deeply human way—helping them prioritize their finances and plan for the future.
And that journey eventually led me to launch Her Path in 2024—a business helping women make personal finance a priority in their lives, one step at a time.
I’m so glad I didn’t listen to that voice in my head. Because if I had, I wouldn’t be here—reminding you:
You are enough, exactly as you are.
If you ever find yourself holding back, as I almost did, I encourage you to pause and ask yourself:
What if the very thing you think disqualifies you… is actually your greatest strength?
Happy Wednesday! 🌿
