🌿Wednesday Wisdom: I wanted to clone her

On Monday morning, I had a conversation with a dear friend that left me feeling so inspired, I wanted to share it with you.

We were chatting about our weekends and then she opened up about how unorganized she was with her finances and how much that really bothered her. She has been meaning to get things together, but "life just keeps getting in the way."

She’s divorced, now retired, with grown children and several grandchildren. Most people might slow down at her stage of life, but not her. She went on to tell me, “This is the year I’m going to get everything in order, once and for all!”

Then she paused and asked, “Do you think you could help me?”

“Help her?!” I thought. I didn’t just want to help her; I wanted to CLONE her!

I was so impressed by her commitment to making this positive change and, more importantly, her courage to ask for help. And I told her just that.

She paused again, looked me square in the eyes and said, “Well, you know, I’m 76 years young, and I have a lot of living still to do, so I BETTER get my act together!”

And we both burst out laughing.

She made my day, and our conversation reminded me that you’re never too old (and it’s never too late) to take charge of your life. There’s always room for growth, especially when we have the courage to ask for help.

Life doesn’t stop as we get older, and neither should we.
