🌿Wednesday Wisdom: Take a chance and join the group

Last May I was offered an opportunity that I almost turned down that, in hindsight, completely changed the way I view new possibilities.
My dear friend Patti invited me to an event hosted by the Philly Chapter of The WIT Network (or "Women in Tech" Network).
At first, I hesitated. I thought, yes, I am a woman, but I hadn’t worked in tech for years, so what in the world could I contribute to this group?
But something kept nudging me to go.
What was the worst that could happen? I might meet a few women and decide it wasn’t for me, OR I could find a welcoming community that embraced me as I am.
So, I pulled up my big girl pants, took the leap, and decided to go. And it turned out to be one of my BEST decisions!
Not only did I find a group of women who shared similar life experiences, but also a passion for supporting one another, regardless of our careers.
Since then, I’ve attended multiple events, connected with more amazing women, and recently became a Committee Leader for the chapter!
Being part of this group has shown me the power of finding your people—those who celebrate your wins, challenge you to grow, and truly support you.
If I had let my negative self-talk hold me back, I would have missed the chance to connect with amazing women who inspire me to be my best, personally and professionally.
My message to you today: Don’t underestimate the power of community.
Take the chance and put yourself out there. Find those people who will lift you up, offer fresh perspectives, and inspire you to grow. You'll be so glad you did!
