🌿Wednesday Wisdom: What if I die without a Will

February 12, 2025

I know, I know. The “end-of-life conversation” can be tough, and you’ve been avoiding it like the plague. I get it—I was once in your shoes, too.

But here’s the thing: being proactive and planning ahead is one of the most important things you can do. Not just for you, but for your loved ones.

And the one crucial aspect of that planning? Creating your will.

A will ensures your assets are distributed as you desire and that your family is taken care of according to your wishes.

Without a will (also known as dying "intestate"), the state steps in to determine how your assets are divided, and the outcome may not reflect your desires.

For example, if you’re unmarried or without children, distant relatives might inherit your estate. Without clear instructions (like those written in a will), your property could end up with people you wouldn’t have chosen—or be stuck in lengthy legal proceedings.

When it comes to guardianship of minor children or the management of your estate, decisions can be left in the hands of the court, adding unnecessary delays and stress for your loved ones.

But here’s the GOOD NEWS: there’s a simple solution. Create your will.

Taking the time to do this ensures your assets are distributed as you wish and provides peace of mind—for both you and those you leave behind.
